Manaslu Circuit - Larkya La
This is one of the least frequented treks in Nepal, as this area was just opened for trekkers in the mid 1990’s. The Manaslu region lies close to the border of Tibet and, just as in the past, the locals still trade with Tibet, as it is just a day’s walk to the border. The trek to Manaslu follows the age-old trade route all the way to Larkya Bazaar and Phedi, which is at the bottom of the pass. This trek leads through interesting traditional villages and farmland, taking you through various landscapes and ecosystems, from the low sub-tropics to the arctic. This trek gives you a taste all the diversity that Nepal has to offer.

The adventure begins in the ancient Gorkha Kingdom in mid-western Nepal. It follows the Burigandaki River upstream from the sub-tropical forest to the dry Tibetan zone, offering outstanding views of Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m.), the eighth highest peak in the world, along with a panorama of the surrounding magnificent peaks that straddle the border with Tibet.
The trek passes the highest point of the journey at Larkya-La. From the top of the pass, it is almost all downhill, through the serene alpine forests and meadows until you come to the main trail of the Annapurna Circuit. After being on the main track for a few days, the journey continues towards Pokhara via another secret route seldom used by trekkers, which offers stunning views of the Manaslu and Annapurna ranges, including the magnificent, majestic Mt. Machhapuchere (Fish Tail), situated amongst traditional mid-hills villages.
