The trek is easy and provides the spectacular views of the Langtang (7245m), Ganesh Himal (7405m), Dorje Lhakpa (6990m) and other small mountains of Langtang Himalayan range. The warm and friendly people of helambu are mostly Buddhists. It is an ideal trip for those who have a short time and like to combine both cultural scene. You will enjoy visiting the culturally rich Tamang villages, Buddhist Gompas and the fantastic landscape with rice fields.
This trek is ideal for people with less time who do not wish to travel too far from the Kathmandu Valley. Helambu is a lush region to the North of Kathmandu inhabited by Sherpas and Tamang people although the Sherpas of this region differ in their practices from their cousins in the Everest region.The trek passes through some beautiful forests and very interesting villages on route.
Detail Itinerary
Day 01- Arrival in Kathmandu airport
There you will be met by our Airport Representative and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Trekking preparation and evening we will brief about trip. Tonight we stay Overnight at hotel.
Day 02- Kathmandu Drive to Sundarijal (1350m) trek to Chisopani (2140m)
Drive about one hour from Kathmandu takes you to trek start point Sundarijal. From Sundarijal the trail climb up besides the water pipes which supplies Kathmandu drinking water, the trail will enter through the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The trail continues uphill through the forest to meet the Mulkharka Villages with the inhabitants of Tamanag people and other ethnic group.
The trail continues with climbing on the forest of rhododendron and oaks after pass the Borlang Bhanjyang trail goes downhill to Chisopani (2140m), The mountain views are excellent from here can see the the views of Annapurna to Everest region. Today we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 03- Chisopani trek to Gul Bhanjyang (2140 m)
The trails runs out of the villages and continues level among pine plantation before arrive Pati Bhanjyang a lovely small village. From here the trail goes through small chortens, fields and forest mostly up and down hill before arriving Gul Bhanjyang (2140m). Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 04- Gulbhanjyang trek to Tharepati (3597m)
Today to trail steady climb through prickly leaved oak forest with excellent views of the mountains and the Helambu valley, Following a ridge line, the trail continues via lightly populated forest to Magengoth from where the view of Langtang and Gosaikund peak is stunning, Above Magingoth the trails climbs steeply through dense pine forest passing severeal chortens and ruined huts. There we will be at Tharepati Rise early for excellent close up views of Gosainkunda and surrounding high mountains. Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 05- Tharepati trek to Melamchi Gaon (2640m)
Today we trek short, steep descent through mixed fir and rhododendron forest rich with bird life. Crashing waterfalls sound from the rocky gullies below as you approach Melamchigaon. This is Sherpa village where we can make around for Sherpa culture. Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 06- Melamchi gaon trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m)
The trail descends steeply to the valley floor, where you can have a well earned dip in the crystal- clear river before completing the short and mild ascent up the other side of the valley. Tarkeghyang boasts an 18th century Gompa with huge brass prayer wheel. This village is culture of Sherpa and Tibetan. Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 07- Tarkegyang trek to Sermathang (2621m)
A flat pleasant walk through the beautiful forest takes you to Shermathang This is a an entering Sherpa village and they will be happy to introduce themselves that they are different from the Sherpa of Khumbu(Everest region) In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda and Rolwaling etc... in a distance. Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 08- Shermathang Trek to Melamchi Bazaar (828m) and drive to Kathmandu.
Today the trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, you come across several old villages. With the spectacular Mountain View, you will get to interact with local and friendly people. Drive back to Kathmandu by bus or private vehicle; today is full day program. Tonight we stay overnight at guest house.
Day 09- A full days sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley.
After you have had your breakfast we will take you on a sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu valley. You will visit the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. You will also visit Swyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, a 2000 year old temple; a visit to Patan City will enchant you with its famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel you will have time to explore the local area.
Day 10- Final Departure
Our support team will take you to the airport for your flight home or if you are interested in continuing onto Chitwan Jungle Safari, White Water Rafting, Lumbini tour, Kathmandu Shopping Tour or Scenic Everest Flight.
